Knockout Knob is my musical playground, a place where I can try anything that comes to mind. Improvised electronic live music has been a big part of the project since the beginning. I started the project in 2012 to discover more about new musical concepts and creative technology. Collaboration of any kind also is an important element. No matter if producers, musicians, dancers or visual artists - collective creation is the core of the matter. The majority of the performances and improv works are not documented, because they never intended being more than they are:
Knockout Knob stand lange Zeit exklusiv für improvisierte elektronische Livemusik. Geboren wurde das Projekt Anfang 2012 aus dem Interesse an mir damals noch weitgehend unbekannten musikalischen Konzepten und der Liebe zu kreativ genutzter Technologie. Schnell wird klar, dass Kollaboration jeglicher Art ein weiterer zentraler Bestandteil des Projekts sind. Egal ob mit Produzent*innen, Musiker*innen, Tänzer*innen, bildenden oder Video-Künstlern, das gemeinsame ungeprobte Schaffen wird zum Kern der Sache. Es entstehen viele, leider oft schlecht bis nicht dokumentierte, Performances und Improv-Werke in unterschiedlichsten Umgebungen. Die Vernissage im lichtdurchfluteten Atelier mit Anzug und Capapé, die Technoparty im schwitzenden, dröhnenden, engen Keller mit schnellen Visuals und Neon Licht, das Non-Profit-Hippiefestival im Wald am See mit Räucherstäbchen und Body Art. Diese und viele andere Anlässe bieten eine Bühne für Musik, die nicht mehr sein will, als sie ist:
Suddenly there was time – lots of it. Time for everything there hadn't been time for before. Time for new experiments. But most of all time for inventory. It wasn't until the beginning of 2021 that I realized, that most of the ideas from jams and live sets, had already turned into songs. At this point, starting to release everything I had collected over the year was a no-brainer.
